About

The Story of the Death of Germany's Greatest Warship.

From 20th May 1941, when the German battleship Bismarck sailed on a foray against allied shipping in the Atlantic, there unfolded an eight day drama unique in naval warfare. The Bismarck, the Fleet Flagship of the German Navy, was the largest and most formidable battleship afloat; her crew numbered 2403; she was protected against torpedo hits by a new kind of armour; she carried five aircraft; her consort on the Atlantic foray was the cruiser Prinz Eugen.

In this book, told from the point of view of the crew of the Bismarck, is described the hunt and final kill; the end is a horrific portrayal of defeat at sea.  The author depicts the fear and courage of the crew as the end slowly and inevitably approaches.

Illustrated with monochrome images.
