The history of New Zealand/Australian publishers and booksellers, A. H. & A. W. Reed, on their 60th anniversary.
The story of this publishing house begins when A.H. Reed was sent down from Auckland to Dunedin in 1897, when nearly twenty-two years of age, to open a branch of the New Zealand Typewriter Company. Ten years later, in 1907, he founded a mail-order business, with next to no capital, for the supply of literature and material for religious instruction. In 1925 he was joined by his nephew. A.W. Reed, who a few years later was admitted into the partnership.
Illustrated with b&w photos. Also includes a numbered list of all the titles published by Reed in the period 1907 to 1957, including the number of times each title was reprinted.
This book will hold the interest of every buyer and reader of books.
