ABOUT
An account of the brave endeavour, disappointment, and achievement North of Auckland on the shores of the Kaipara Harbour.
A detailed historical account of the Albertland Special Settlement Scheme, an ambitious but largely unsuccessful 1862 colonization movement designed to establish a Nonconformist Christian utopia on the shores of Northland's Kaipara Harbour.
Borrows documents how William Rawson Brame, a young Birmingham journalist and Baptist minister, spearheaded the movement in 1861. He drew in thousands of English middle-class settlers looking for religious independence and cheap land.
Well illustrated with monochrome images, drawings and maps, including maps on end papers.
