It traces the multi-generational lineage of Parker's ancestors, beginning with her great-grandparents, Thomas and Selina Drake. Along with their infant daughter Ceres, they departed Plymouth on the Tory in 1839 and arrived in Wellington aboard the New Zealand Company immigrant ship Aurora in January 1840.
The author gives an account of the activities of the descendants of this pioneer couple.
