ABOUT
Fantastic item of original memorabilia that would look great framed.
This is the real McCoy from 233+ years ago, not a modern reproduction.
An original receipt from for Sir James Esdaile & Co - made out to Mr. J Lockett for £200 pounds (37,000 today).
Sir James Esdaile (1714 – 1793) was an English banker who served as the Lord Mayor of London in 1777. Esdaile also served as sheriff of London in 1767. (portrait depicted in images).
Interesting to see how old invoices/receipts and letters were pinned together before there were staples, and payments were officially receipted using postage stamps.
