ABOUT
Born Rosemary Rees, the author learned to fly in 1933 and soon acquired her own aeroplane in which she toured Europe right up to the outbreak of World War II. At the end of 1939 she was selected as one of the first eight women to join the Air Transport Auxiliary. For six years she delivered every type of aeroplane from trainers to four-engined bombers.
She flew 91 different types of aircraft from light trainers through spitfires and twin engine bombers to 4 engine heavies of the Halifax and Lancaster. After the war she married and joined her husband in campaigning for the Conservatives.
