ABOUT
A highly regarded by outdoor enthusiasts as a culturally significant account of early professional hunting and deer culling in New Zealand.
Documents Max Curtis's early experiences as a young, inexperienced professional hunter. He recounts his initial assignments in the Spenser Mountains (South Island), candidly describing the mistakes, amateurish stalking efforts, and missed opportunities that eventually shaped him into a highly skilled, expert stalker.
Curtis writes about the golden era of government-sanctioned deer culling. Because few first-hand accounts exist from this period of backcountry management, the book serves as an important historical record of New Zealand's wilderness history.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome images.
