ABOUT
Autobiographical book written by prominent New Zealand activist and politician Tim Shadbolt.
The book established Shadbolt as a leading figure of New Zealand's 1970s radical left before he transitioned into local government.
The book details Shadbolt’s childhood, his time as a student politician at Auckland University, his involvement in the anti-Vietnam War protest movements, his experiences in prison cells (such as Mt Eden and Mt Crawford), and alternative lifestyle communes of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Shadbolt drafted the battered manuscript while spending time in prison for his political activism. It is widely considered a New Zealand counter-culture classic.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome images.
