ABOUT
This is the story of how Frank Glen, the working clergyman, set himself up as a part-time cocky.
Written in a colourful, rough-and-tumble style, it relates how the Glens' two-hectare property in Myross Bush, Invercargill, became the home of an assortment of sheep, ducks and the indomitable black ram, Charles Jesus Brown.
As a probation officer by day, and spare-time protector of his four-footed flock, Frank Glen's time was cut out. His new duties included fencing, shearing, gardening and acting as midwife to twenty-four stubborn and single-minded ewes. In his new role as Nature's temporary rural housekeeper, Frank Glen demonstrates the rewards of living and working close to the land in the unique Southland community.
