Memoirs of Maurice and Noreen Clarke who started life in the coal mining areas of Durham and Yorkshire.
After Maurice qualified as a medical practitioner, they met at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield and married. National Service in the RAF took them to Cyprus. After demob they went to the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland and worked deep in the African bush providing medical needs in a huge area of Northern Rhodesia. Next was a tea estate in Kenya, looking after 10,000 African estate workers, plus the European staff.
As African countries gained independence, they moved to New Zealand, then Queensland, and in 1964 settled and raised five children in the valley of the West Tamar, Tasmania, where Maurice started a rural medical practice at Exeter and farmed in his spare time. Maurice died tragically in 2002 and Noreen finished these memoirs.
