A biography of Captain Albert Ball, a British fighter pilot during the First World War.
He first joined the No. 13 Squadron RFC in France flying reconnaissance missions before being posted to the No. 11 Squadron, a fighter unit in May 1916. Ball was posted to No. 56 Squadron, which deployed to the Western Front in April 1917. Albert Ball was killed in May 1917. His death sparked a wave of national mourning and posthumous recognition. He was one of the first aces to become a British national hero and was awarded the Victoria Cross posthumously.
Includes monochrome images and portrait on title page.
