ABOUT
Centennial history of Christchurch Girl Hight School.
Christchurch Girls' High School, one of NZs oldest and best known schools for girls celebrates its centenary in September 1977. Until little more than a hundred years ago most ladies in Canterbury relied on governesses or private Dame Schools for what limited formal education they received. It was an enlightened step when not long after the founding of Canterbury University College, the Provincial Superintendent, William Rolleston, proposed that higher education should be provided for girls. The new school began under the control of the University and remained so until 1949.
Includes monochrome images and fine line drawings.

Immaculate with only light light wear on dust jacket, otherwise near new, no stamps or inscriptions. Images depict all need to know detail.
