The history of the Heinkel aircraft factories in Germany and the various Heinkel aircraft types produced.
In 1922, Ernst Heinkel, who had been chief designer at the Hansa and Brandenburg Aircraft Works during the World War, founded his own aircraft factory. In Warnemünde, aircraft for a wide variety of purposes were developed for clients in numerous countries, the license of which was sold together with one or two model aircraft. Heinkel ran what he described as a “development factory” that was heavily export-oriented.
The Heinkel aircraft factory became the largest industrial company in Mecklenburg and developed around 50 different aircraft models, land and sea aircraft as monoplanes and biplanes, float planes and flying boats.
