Historical booklet was issued by the company's directors in 1951 for its shareholders to record its early history and showcase its various branches across New Zealand.
The Taupo Totara Timber Company (TTT) was officially registered on 26 February 1901 by a group of Wellington businessmen. Their purpose was to harvest the massive, dense stands of native Totara, Rimu, Matai, and Miro forests located on the Volcanic Plateau south of Tokoroa.
The company set up its primary sawmilling operations at Mokai, which grew rapidly into one of the largest timber mills in New Zealand during the early 20th century. At its peak around 1907, the mill employed over 300 workers. In the 1970s, TTT was absorbed by NZ Forest Products.
