The author's real-life experiences joining legendary local runholder David Gunn in remote southwest New Zealand.
The author, under his initials "R.D.S.", was long an important writer on agricultural stock-keeping in New Zealand. Rupert Sharpe was fortunate enough to join with Gunn in one of these musters. His lively story gives a fascinating glimpse of a way of life that had no parallel anywhere else in the modern world.
