A younger man might have been tempted to break records, but an older man... It is unlikely that there will ever be an older man than Mr A H Reed walking the whole length of New Zealand. Characteristically, he made no special preparations for the journey except for having ordinary, serviceable clothes; so ordinary, in fact, that his passage through a town would have gone unremarked if it had not been for the interest which mounted the further south he progressed. His personality had effect on thousands of New Zealanders.
