A comprehensive tribute to the pilots and ground crew of No. 485 Squadron Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), the iconic "New Zealand Spitfire Squadron" that fought during World War II.
Traces the operational life of the squadron from its formation on 1 March 1941 at RAF Driffield in Yorkshire. Initially flying older, worn-out Spitfires while learning to coordinate as a unit, the squadron achieved operational status on 12 April 1941.
Though their initial responsibilities were limited to monotonous convoy escort patrols over the North Sea, 485 Squadron went on to establish a stellar operational record by the end of the war.
