Ormond Burton was a war hero in WWI, and then an imprisoned conscientious objector in WWII. This book tells of his experience in his 2 and 1/2 years of prison.
He had become a Methodist Minister shortly before WWII, and not only was he imprisoned by the government for sedition - he continued to speak in public about pacifism - but he was removed from ministry by the Church Conference for disobeying their proscription that a preacher could speak neither for nor against the war.
