A history of the Waimumu-Te Tipua Districts of Southland in Otago, New Zealand an area inland from Invercargill, including family biographies and local industries, including flax.
More than 100 years after the settlement of the districts of Waimumu and Te Tipua, nestled close to the Hokonui Range, this history of the district was published. It looks back to the 1850s when the first white settlers arrived, taking it to the early 1960s.
Author Lyal Barry, headmaster at Waimumu Scool in the late 1950s. The result is a comprehensive account of the district, its early settlers, the development of industries and farming, community and social affairs, education and sport.
Includes monochrome images, map on rear end paper.
