Biography of Frances Preston, one of New Zealand earliest women doctors, graduating from the Otago Medical School, Dunedin in 1922.
Her medical service included locum, hospital and sanatorium work in Dunedin, New Plymouth, Rotorua, and the Hokianga, where she worked with the famous eccentric Dr. G.M. Smith. She fought not only disease, but prejudice against women in medicine. Dr Preston retired from practice on marriage and became deeply involved with rural community service with the Women's Division of Federated Farmers Movement.
