Raising awareness about the longfin eel, which is the largest freshwater eel in the world and endemic to New Zealand. Shaw wrote the book specifically to support its habitat protection and halt its ecological decline.
Tom Shaw was a biologist and environmental scientist who lived in Titirangi, Auckland, during the 1980s. He published numerous articles and stories dedicated to environmental preservation before his passing.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome and colour fine line drawings.
