Biography of Robert Laidlaw, founder of Farmers Trading Company in New Zealand.
Robert Laidlaw had two passions: Business and the Christian religion. Laidlaw was sort of an early 20th century version of Jeff Bezos with the "new" concept of catalogues and mail order purchase.
Robert merged his fast growing company with the struggling Farmer's Trading Co and, despite difficult travails, steered the combined company to success.
An excellent book for a New Zealand business person to look up to, as well as anyone interested in the history of the Farmers company and the development of New Zealand industry in the first 50 years of the 20th century, through WWI and WWII.
Includes monochrome images.
