ABOUT
Marsden family history, that serves as a dual-purpose archival record, detailing the early history of the pioneering Marsden family of Nelson alongside the transformation of their ancestral land into a prominent local institution.
The booklet focuses heavily on Town Acre 438 in central Nelson. The land was originally claimed in 1843 by Thomas Marsden, a watchmaker and jeweller who arrived in Nelson from Cumbria, England, in 1842. Thomas built a small cottage on this site where his children were born, laying the foundation for the prominent Marsden family lineage in the region.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome images.
