A biography of the life of Admiral Sir Max Kennedy Horton, GCB, DSO, who joined the Royal Navy as a Cadet in 1898.
His first command was Submarine A1 in 1907 and commanded submarine E9 which sank the German cruiser Hela in September, 1914. After various commands between the wars he took charge of the Northern Patrol at the outbreak of WW2 before being appointed Vice-Admiral Submarines in January 1940.
