ABOUT
Published 107+ years ago, at the end of World War I, this text dates a foundational era of Hydroelectric power in New Zealand.
During the late 1910s, the country was transitioning from localized power schemes toward an ambitious, unified national network to fuel post-war industrial and domestic expansion.
Henry Hill (1849–1933) was a highly influential educator, school inspector, geologist, and politician who served as the Mayor of Napier from 1915 to 1919. His credentials listed on the cover, F.G.S., denote his status as a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, underscoring his deep academic interest in New Zealand's landscapes and natural resources.
