The text for this handbook was originally prepared for the 11th Royal Society of NZ Science Congress, held in Auckland in February 1965, and the authors concerned have kindly agreed to the republication of their articles on the occasion of the 49th ANZAAS Congress, 22 - 26 January 1979.
The aim is to provide a general introduction to Auckland's natural history for delegates to the 1979 Congress, and a permanent addition to the Museum's Handbook series, to make available for general reference, up-to-date information on the Auckland area.
