ABOUT
This is the account of a major mountain range in Central New Guinea, and of the wild, mostly unexplored country surrounding it. This formidable range is as long as the Himalayas(1500 miles) and prior to 1961, the date of this expedition, only three attempts had been made to reach the glaciated snow peaks of Dutch New Guinea. The author and five friends from New Zealand set off to attack the Carstensz, 16,500 feet and this book describes the Carstensz and its wild plateau and surrounding jungle.
Illustrated with monochrome images and map.
