ABOUT
Beck originally wrote the book to clear up widespread confusion surrounding the term "greenstone" and to educate the public on the science behind New Zealand’s national gemstone.
This fascinating and informative book now has two distinct elements;
First, a broad background of jade, leading into a history of New Zealand jade, its use by the moa hunters, by the Maori, and the legends that have surrounded its origin and discovery.
Secondly, an account of the different types of jade, its identification, its geological structure, and its historical and contemporary location in New Zealand.
Includes monochrome and colour images, drawings and maps.
