ABOUT
An official, illustrated historical record documenting the term of office of Sir Bernard Fergusson and Lady Laura Fergusson in New Zealand.
It covers their vice-regal tenure spanning from 1962 to 1967. Sir Bernard served as the 16th Governor-General of New Zealand and was notably the last British-born Governor-General to hold the position before the appointment of New Zealand-born citizens became standard practice.
The title "Not As Strangers" references the deep, multi-generational history the Fergusson family shared with New Zealand. Remarkably, both Sir Bernard's paternal grandfather (Sir James Fergusson) and maternal grandfather (the 7th Earl of Glasgow) had previously served as Governors of New Zealand during the 19th century.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome images.
