In 1946, at the age of 44, Doctor Pye retired from medicine to concentrate on sailing full time. Pye and his wife Anne buy and convert a small traditional gaff fishing boat for personal use, and after WWII take off on a great voyage. Red Mains’l covers his voyage to Portugal, Madeira, the West Indies, Florida, the Azores and back, all in the late '40s.
Includes monochrome images, fine line illustrations and maps.
