History of a truly versatile and remarkable helicopter.
The Sea King was never a very adventurous design, but the combination of traditional Sikorsky design and a turbine powerplant produced the world's first truly capable anti-submarine helicopter fitted with sensors and armament.
Constant developments have kept the Sea King up to the mark in performance and offensive capability and the type secured worldwide renown as the HH-3E Jolly Green Giant armed rescue helicopter in Vietnam. Westland in the UK has produced its own versions with much enhanced anti-submarine equipment and, since the Falklands conflict of 1982, British Sea Kings are being fitted with radar to produce the Royal Navy with airborne early warning capability.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome and colour images, fine line drawings, including on end papers.
CONDITION
Excellent, light wear/spine fading on covers, faint marks on title page, no stamps or inscriptions. Images depict all need to know detail.
