ABOUT
Reporter and TV critic John Berry reflects on show business folks in New Zealand.
Although almost fully occupied with general newspaper work, he began writing a weekly column, "Show Folk", in the Auckland Star, in January, 1960. Here he dealt with personalities of the entertainment world in a new and refreshing way, breaking through conservative standards long observed by the press of New Zealand. With the advent of television, he became New Zealand's first TV critic. Many times he has appeared on TV, most notably in an interview with Louis Armstrong.
As a journalist who has come up the hard way, Berry has touched life at many points, and writes capably on a wide range of subjects.
Includes monochrome images.
