A true story, Rickenbacker recounts being lost at sea.
On a secret mission in late 1942 Rickenbacker traveled as a passenger on a B-17 leaving Hawaii for a tiny Pacific Island. They never reached that island, eventually ditching the plane somewhere unknown in the Pacific Ocean. He and the crew survived 21 days in small rubber rafts eating fish and seagulls, drinking rainwater and facing down death.
