For about 115 years the Union Steam Ship Company has dominated the New Zealand shipping scene.
Formed at Dunedin in 1875, it quickly gained control of the Australasian shipping industry. This book features some of the more than 350 ships that it has owned. Nearly 100 photographs, many of them never published before, feature early steam ships, ocean liners, Australian and New Zealand coasters as well as some of the freighters that make up the modern fleet. Based on the extensive photographic holdings of the Wellington Harbour Board Maritime Museum.
