ABOUT
Sir Francis Henry Dillon Bell (1851-1936) was an eminent NZ statesman, Prime Minister and respected lawyer. He entered Parliament in 1893 for a short time and was also Mayor of Wellington, leader of the then Legislative Council, held many important Cabinet posts from 1912 and became caretaker Prime Minister for a brief time in 1925, the first New Zealand born person to hold that position. He played an influential role in the developing an independent NZ, particularly during WWI.
