ABOUT
Details the history of Tarawera before and after the fateful morning of the eruption.
Before the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886, Te Wairoa was a prosperous village for both Maori and Pakeha. Tourists from around the world flocked to the site to be guided to the famous Pink and White Terrance. After the eruption, villages were buried in mud and ash and the terraces disappeared. This book deals with the history, before and after this fateful morning.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome and colour images and maps.
Includes separate brochure on the buried village.
