Thames had its era of fame during the gold production era beginning in the late 1860s and this valued souvenir publication of 1973 marked the celebration of the town's 100 years of local government administration. Content includes fine coverage of the goldmining days which were numbered by the 1920s. Thames did not become a ghost town and the book describes the many civic, cultural, educational. sporting, religious and industrial organisation that kept Thames alive and prosperous.
