ABOUT
The story of flamboyant British businessman Sir Freddie Laker and his airline Laker Air.
A self made millionaire who many including Margaret Thatcher revered as the father of budget no frills air travel as we have all come to know today. Laker's struggle to establish his venture was immense as he pioneered his new Laker Air Skytrain at a time when the skies were ruled internationally by the government backed titans of expensive air travel and their cartel allotted air routes.
Nevertheless Laker was successful during the 1970s and 80s, ever expanding, securing new routes, and buying many new planes. But then came recessions, a weak currency and oil shocks that sent even the largest airlines in the world to the wall......but right the bitter end Freddie never, ever gave up.
