ABOUT
This is a classic fly-fishing memoir and autobiographical account written by the prominent New Zealand-born Australian poet, playwright, and literary editor Douglas Stewart (1913–1985).
Stewart profiles seven of his most beloved rivers across New Zealand and Australia, using each waterway as a narrative backdrop to explore his lifetime obsession with trout fishing. Rather than being a dry, technical instruction manual, Stewart famously described it as a book written simply for the nostalgic pleasure of going fishing again in retrospect.
The book is enhanced throughout with custom title vignettes and monochrome text sketches crafted by the author's wife, the celebrated Australian artist Margaret Coen
