Travel Book Club edition in English translation by F.H. Lyon, this is the story of a Danish sailor's audacious scheme to circumnavigate the world in a two-masted schooner.
Carl Nielsen and two other amateur sailors made plans to sail 36,000 miles round the world. The Nordkaperen, a two-masted schooner built in 1905, had to be stripped down to the keel because of wood-rot and rust. Two years circumnavigation started in June 1946. Calls in Madeira, Virgin Islands, Panama, Galapagos, Tahiti, Fiji, Cairns and Torres Strait.
