Published to mark the 50th anniversary of what was originally known simply as the Tokoroa School, and later renamed Tokoroa East Primary School.
After several attempts by local settler Robert Henry West to secure an education facility, the school officially opened in July 1915 with a roll of just 9 students and one teacher, Miss E.M. Martin.
Due to the massive boom in the local forestry and timber industry, the school quickly became overcrowded. This forced the Education Department to rapidly build surrounding schools like Tokoroa Central (1954) and Tokoroa High School (1957).
After serving the South Waikato community for nearly a century, Tokoroa East Primary School closed its doors in 2010.
