ABOUT
Signed by the author.
A local regional and genealogical history book providing a comprehensive chronicle of the Trafford family.
It traces the family’s earliest known origins back to pre-Norman Lancashire, England, and documents the family's 19th-century migration to the East Coast, specifically focusing on the arrivals of Arthur Trafford (1876), William John Trafford (1891), and Margrave Thomas Trafford (1892).
It follows their subsequent marriages, generations of descendants, and farming lives in the Gisborne and Wairoa districts, including geographical landmarks named after them, such as Traffords Hill in the Waioeka Gorge.
Written by the Te Araroa-based nurse, educator, and historian Vivienne May McConnell (née Hovell, 1928–2008).
The text compiles a rich collection of family reminiscences, historical photographs, letters, obituaries, and early newspaper clippings.
