ABOUT
The stories of families, schools, halls, and community organisations, over the period 1900 to 1990, in a scattered rural farming district west of Te Kuiti.
The reader is taken from the early balloting of farms, through the pioneering years to the abandoning of much of this land, due to men being called up for WWI service, and later, the effects of bush sickness (cobalt deficiency), the depression, and finally to the great transformation. The catalysts for these changes were, crawler tractors and bulldozers, aerial topdressing, electricity, and the settling of many returned WWII servicemen onto their own farms.
Illustrated throughout with monochrome images including end papers.
