Provides a personal remembrance and historical account focusing on New Zealand conscientious objectors during World War II.
Explores the lives of Christians and pacifists who actively resisted participation in the conflict, navigating the social backlash, legal issues, and confinement in local detention camps (such as the Whitanui detention camp) prior to, during, and after the war.
During WWII, New Zealand held a strict stance against military draft evaders, establishing specialized camps for those who objected on moral, philosophical, or religious grounds.
