About

History of the Papakura district in Auckland.

Papakura lies at the geographical centre of the region extending from the Auckland isthmus to the lower reaches of the Waikato River. Howick, Otahuhu and Papatoetoe are contained within the Manukau City boundaries; in Franklin County are Pukekohe, Tuakau and Waiuku.

This book traces comprehensively developments in Papakura and the Manukau region generally from the earliest Maori occupation. Factors which are unique to Papakura, its surrounding districts and the Manukau region are revealed so that this book becomes a worthy addition to the chronicles of local history in New Zealand.

Illustrated with monochrome images and maps.

Decorated end papers.
