About

In 1958 Cold War barriers came down to enable a group of British mountaineers to return to climbing the Soviet Caucasus.

Firm friendships were struck with their Russian counterparts and five years of planning, delays and frustrations well rewarded. Sir John Hunt led the first successful Everest expedition and Brasher was a British Olympian turned mountaineers.

Illustrated throughout with monochrome images and map, colour image on title page.
