About

The problem of waterside labour has been one which has agitated the minds of thoughtful men since the late years of last century, when the general humanitarian trend brought an upsurgence of social and economic reform.

This traces the history of organised labour on the Wellington waterfront from early colonial days until the present time. The author has covered a lot of ground analysing the conditions and problems that developed during the years when the Wellington Watersiders built their organisation.

Illustrated with monochrome images. Annotated bibliography.
