Entering Parliament in 1960 as Member for Tamaki Muldoon became a member of the Public Expenditure Committee of the House, Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Minister of Finance in 1963, Minister of Finance in 1967, Deptuy PM in 1972, Leader of the opposition in 1974 and PM and Minister of Finance from 1975 to 1984.
